The Franklin Historical Museum is honored to welcome Franklin native Paul Faenza as the presenter of our second Sunday Lecture Series, Sunday, September 12 at 1:15 p.m.

Anyone old enough to remember can remember where they were when they heard about the events of September 11, 2001. Retired NYPD Sergeant Paul Faenza shares his memories of that day and the days that followed in a one hour power point presentation. As a member of the New York City Police Department, he responded to the scene immediately after the buildings collapsed and remained at Ground Zero for two weeks. It details this morning from a personal level to a professional level and beyond. To wade through the dust up to his knees until he witnessed the collapse of Building 7; search buildings, dig on the job and participate in a temporary morgue honor guard. This is not a history lesson, nor a political discussion, it only serves to give an idea of what happened that day in New York City from the perspective of first responders.

The purpose of Paul’s presentation is to make sure that people remember the events that happened on this day twenty years ago. It also serves as a reminder of the hundreds of people who died or were ill as a result of exposure to Ground Zero. Please consider donating to www.answerthecall.org . Their mission is to provide financial assistance and a support network to the families of New York City police officers, firefighters, Port Authority police and EMS personnel who have been killed in the line of duty.

Please join us on this weekend to mark the 20th anniversary of the September 11 attacks on behalf of Paul firsthand.
