A volunteer position to represent County Commissioners on the Lewis County Historical Museum Board is open to applicants.

The Lewis County Historical Museum offers collections, exhibits, preservation efforts, public programs, and volunteer opportunities to highlight an appreciation for the area’s past.

“The Historical Museum Board helps guide the museum’s efforts, and the county representative is a voting member who also serves as a liaison regarding maintenance needs for the county-owned building,” a news release read.

The Historical Museum Board includes representatives from the cities that include Chehalis and Centralia. It meets at 5 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month.

The ideal candidate would have an interest in local history and be a strong volunteer. Those with building maintenance experience would also be appreciated.

Those interested in representing the county on the Historical Museum Board may submit an application and letter of interest to BOCC Board Registrar Rieva Lester by mail at 351 NW North St., Chehalis; by email to Committees@LewisCountywa.gov (include Historical Society in the subject line); and in person at the Commissioners Office in Room 210 of the Historic Courthouse at 351 NW North St., Chehalis.

Applications must be submitted by 3 p.m. on Thursday, February 24. Applications are available online at https://lewiscountywa.gov/offices/commissioners/bocc-news/commissioners-seek-individual-to-represent-county-on-historical-museum-council/.
