DETROITMint Artists Guild, a Detroit-based nonprofit that encourages the creative youth of Detroit, has opened its first exhibit at the Detroit Historical Museum.

The exhibition, Paint Detroit with Generosity, runs until January 2, 2022.

Fifteen artists between the ages of 14 and 22 were on Mint’s summer employment program, and eight of them were newbies at Mint. They spent part of their summer creating artwork for 25 local nonprofits.

The Mint Summer Jobs Program is supported by Grow Detroit’s Young Talent, the city’s youth employment program.

In addition to the Paint Detroit with Generosity paintings, the 15 artists will present their self-portraits at the Detroit Historical Museum.

“The Detroit Historical Society is thrilled to partner with an organization that encourages the arts and creativity of young people. These young artists are the future of art and museum professionals, and we are excited to showcase their art this holiday season! said Tracy Irwin, exhibits and enrichment manager for the Detroit Historical Society.
