1.Qasr al-Hosn Fort, Abu Dhabi

Known as the White Fort, this fort is the oldest stone building in Abu Dhabi. Apparently, the original fort was built in 1761 and served as a watchtower. It was also the only freshwater well present in Abu Dhabi at that time.

2. Petra, Jordan

For anyone who loves historic architecture, this one is a gem. This place is the real proof of the life of the Nabataean Arabs who existed around 2000 years ago and is considered as the heart of their civilization. The monument is also known as the Rose-Red City due to the color of the rocks.

3. Bahrain Fort, Bahrain

This fort is one of three UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the country. According to evidence, the site has been occupied since 2300 BC. but the fort you see today dates from the 16th century and was built by the Portuguese. There are villages to the right of the fort, and they are known as the “painted village” because of the pastel colored murals on the houses.

4. Martyrs Museum, Kuwait

This house transformed into a museum is in the middle of the residential area. This house has a story. It was used by the Kuwaiti Freedom Fighters Group, who came under heavy fire for ten long hours when they resisted arrest during the Iraqi occupation on February 24, 1991. While some died, some tortured and some hid in the attic.

5. Al Jazeera Al Hamra, UAE

As the UAE was close to the gulf, people were forced to live in the coastal villages back then. Al Jazeera Al Hamra is also known as the Red Island, and it is quite authentic, so one can know what a coastal place is like. The place has a lot of history with traditional schools, mosques and souks that depict the true story of the traditional Emirati way of life.

6. Fort Al Maqtaa, Abu Dhabi

This fort was built over 200 years ago, making it a very historic site in Abu Dhabi. The fort is located next to Al Maqta Bridge. According to its website, the fort consists of a 2-story square tower with 2 additions on its north and east sides, which kept enemies away.

7. Fort Al Zubarah, Qatar

The only UNESCO World Heritage Site in the country. It was actually only built in 1938, long after the city of Zubarah was abandoned. But for those who are tired of high rises, this is a desert fort reminiscent of the good old days.
