Local Authors Honored at Upcoming Polk County Historical Museum Event – The Tryon Daily Bulletin

The Polk County Historical Association has announced that its next event is for local authors who live or resided in Polk County. The intent is to better promote and educate residents about our “not-so-famous Polk County Writers.” Sometimes our neighbors are published authors and we are not aware of it.
“Polk County has a number of authors that not everyone knows about,” said Becky Hudson, program chair and PCHA board member. “We want to encourage our local writers to participate so they can showcase the talent we have in the community.”
Currently, the Historical Association has authors Robin Edger, Joe Epley, Garland Goodwin, Mary Neal Jones, Mike McCue, Susan Speight and others who plan to give a description of their book and have copies of their books for sale. The plan is to have a kind of book fair with the authors. They will be present from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Lanier Library officials will be on hand at the event to talk about their organization and share what they are currently working on. The library has held a special exhibit of famous authors who wrote Tryon which will also be on display.
The event will begin at 2 p.m. inside the Polk County Historical Museum on April 12. The event is free and the public is invited. The museum is located in downtown Columbus at 60 Walker Street.
